But radiation is finally over. I did it every day for four weeks, (well, every day except Sat and Sun, cos as we already mentioned, Cancer doesn't roll on Shabbos) and I entertained my radiation oncologists with one liners as the machine moved from one side to another, and now it's over. My artist residency at Peter Mac is done.
But the side effects will continue to get worse for another couple of weeks. Which means more Nashville binge watching, and more of me desperately trying not to scratch my nipple off!!! DAMN my entire boob is itchy!! It's totally reacting to the radiation, but fortunately not burnt (yet!). Imagine your worst allergic skin reaction and then place it on the most sensitive part of your body. Yep, that.
And yes, I am still applying the sorbolene to my skin, as well as the added extra of the natural aloe vera growing in my yard (thanks Jerry for planting that a few years back). I guess I just gotta ride this out.
But I am heading out to some thermal springs tomorrow with my friend Sim, and we're gonna soak up the good waters together, and I hope they will help my skin a bit.
And at some point in the next week I really must do some research into a new health fund, or whether I pay for private health at all. I've been too hurt by my fund not covering me to talk about it or to find a new fund, but I can't continue to ignore it, so I suppose my next post will be all about private vs public and where I might go next.
For now though, please excuse me. I have a boob to scratch, and Connie Britton to gape at.
